The Elephant in the Road...

DISCLAIMER:  Brigitte (the fair and wise) wanted me to let y'all know this isn't a political blog - and it's not.  But there is a reality we will probably need to deal with in this "post fact" country we now find ourself fixing' to cycle through, and I thought I should just throw it out there.  Because it's real. And real big.

Now, I have travelled to a socialist & communist country, and you can bet there was lots of talk about politics.  But it was respectful, and there was no time that I felt the least bit threatened by folks that I engaged with.  And it was very interesting, and refreshing that we could talk, and agree to disagree.

But then there's 2017 in 'Merica....

So, you all have heard that Hillary prevailed in the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes.  However, we are not riding through voters.  If we were "riding through voters", our country would look roughly like this:










However, we are riding through States and Counties of this republic (not peoples, per se) and the stark fact is that the Presidential Democratic ticket only won about 487 counties out of a total of 3,141 counties total.  Which makes the map look a lot more like this:



How's that going to affect our ride?  Welp, I guess we'll see.


Ultimately I have faith in the fairly decent character of Americans, and though we no doubt will run into some jerks in both red and blue counties, well, that's just how it is.


But if we call for bail money - please pick up!! :-)
